POSITION SUMMARY
Leads a variety of accounting activities. Meets deadlines. Is flexible to do other tasks when needed and works without direct supervision.

LOCATION
Nashville, TN office. BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as employee safety is our priority.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise for the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Prepares/reviews journal entries for month-end close and provides reporting to internal stakeholders.
  • Prepares/reviews monthly account reconciliations, meeting established deadlines, and reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Assists with departmental and expense variance analysis.
  • Processes fixed assets which include mass additions, asset classifications, depreciation, prepare various schedules and participate in capitalization and impairment reviews.
  • Assists with IT reporting, budgeting and forecasting as needed.
  • Develops and documents accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepares reports and memorandums using critical thinking skills.
  • Assists with year-end audit.
  • Participates in system testing as needed.
  • Works with Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, HR, FP&A, Royalty Accounting and other departments on accounting-related matters as necessary.
  • Participates in special projects as needed.
  • Adheres to internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reads professional publications; maintains personal networks; participates in professional organizations.
  • Maintains high standards through use of “best practices”.
  • Exhibits competent communication skills in meetings with other staff and Executives, such as the Balance Sheet Review meeting.
  • Cross-trains with other team members on processes to improve bench strength.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. Masters and/or CPA preferred.

Experience: Minimum four (4) years accounting experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES 
Which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access).
  • Experience with Oracle Financials modules preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks while meeting the established deadlines.
  • Ability to understand related accounting policies and procedures
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally, in a professional manner.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to adapt to changes and quickly learn new processes.
  • Must be a team player, flexible, open to challenges, and have the ability to interact with all levels of company personnel.

License(s)/Certifications Required: CPA preferred.

SALARY RANGE 

The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
