Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Manages and coordinates the operational aspects of all functions that relate to conducting outbound collection calls, inbound collection campaigns, and managing all activities connected to these calls and campaigns.

LOCATION
Nashville, TN office. BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the  office three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as  employee safety is our priority.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Evaluates current collection service policies recommending changes when needed.
  • Ensures all past due accounts are pursued in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Initiates & implements new operational procedures & collection strategies.
  • Oversees management of inbound/outbound calls, inbound/outbound emails, and the timely completion of collateral activities.
  • Hires & terminates Collection Representatives and manages the performance improvement process, as necessary.
  • Evaluates job performance and productivity of staff and recommends wage increases.
  • Performs collection representative functions in times of heavy workload.
  • Negotiates and approves settlements.
  • Evaluates and approves account status changes, accounting/fee adjustments, and bad debt write-offs
  • Interviews and trains new personnel.
  • Manages collections call recording, call scoring, and coaching/training on best practice responses to customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Directly supervises departmental employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years’ management, collections management, and/or operations management experience required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Management/coaching abilities.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows, SMS, Oracle and OIT.
  • Knowledge of licensing products and licensing process.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of BMI General Licensing.
  • Selling, negotiating and collection skills.

SALARY RANGE
The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
