Specialist, Distribution & Admin Services
POSITION SUMMARY
Demonstrate expertise in the software, systems, processes and procedures necessary to carry out specialized departmental functions. Facilitate business processes that drive accurate and timely royalty payments.
LOCATION
Nashville, TN office. BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as employee safety is our priority.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Applies policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to the business functions of this position.
- Recommends changes to procedures and process flows.
- Assists team leader and manager in establishing new procedures.
- Develops awareness of and familiarity with issues affecting the department, and/or its customers.
- Gives guidance to the team by answering technical and procedural questions.
- Trains new team members as requested.
- Assigns work to staff as requested.
- Assists with data collection and analysis.
- Assists with analysis of software, system tools, and reports.
- Handles relevant day to day operations inquiries.
- Carries out specialized operational functions for business processes including but not limited to: registration, identification, imaging and data procurement.
- Participates and contributes to high profile projects.
- Works in other areas of the department as needed or assigned.
- Actively participates in ongoing training.
- Regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High School graduate, or GED equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred with concentration in music business.
Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years experience in music business, music publishing, or related field. Music business related internships preferred.
Skills and Abilities: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
- Foreign language preferred.
- Knowledge of at least 3 music genres. More genres preferred.
- Experience in document retrieval software preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer navigation skills including Word and Excel
