Sr. Accountant, Licensing Accounting

Broadcast Music, Inc. Nashville, TN (Onsite) Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY
Performs a variety of accounting functions encompassing GAAP compliance, operational activities, financial reporting and analysis, data queries, documentation, internal controls, ad hoc projects and improvement of accounting procedures, systems and processes. Partners across functional areas.

LOCATION 
Nashville, TN office. BMI operates on a regular in-office hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Serves as subject matter expert for financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Leads the preparation of monthly journal entries related to Licensing Accounting and fixed assets for month-end closing. Prepares other journal entries as needed.
  • Processes fixed assets, prepares various schedules and participates in capitalization and impairment reviews.
  • Leads the preparation of related general ledger account reconciliations, meeting established deadlines, and reconciling items in a timely manner. Reviews reconciliations as needed.
  • Participates in financial statement preparation to ensure accuracy and prepare addendum schedules as assigned.
  • Assists with year-end audit.
  • Exhibits competent communication skills in meetings with other staff and Executives.
  • Prepares reports and memorandums.
  • Participates in system testing.
  • Develops, documents and updates policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with other departments.
  • Participates in special projects as needed.
  • Adheres to internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintains high standards through use of “best practices.”
  • Regular attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. Master’s Degree and/or CPA preferred.
Experience: Minimum of (4) years’ accounting experience preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES 
Which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access).
  • Experience with Oracle Financials modules preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks while meeting the established deadlines.
  • Ability to understand related accounting policies and procedures
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally, in a professional manner.
  • Initiative-taking with the ability to adapt to changes and quickly learn new processes.
  • Must be a collaborator, flexible, open to challenges, and can interact with all levels of company personnel.
  • Ability to be flexible to do other tasks when needed and work without direct supervision.

SALARY RANGE 
The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
